Old movies (released before 2007)

Saw

What is it: horror/thriller with a very good, mind blowing, surprising twist at the end. Not as bloody/gory as it seemed, only the parts with the corpses

Plot: Two men wake up at opposite sides of a dirty, disused bathroom, chained by their ankles to pipes. Between them lies a dead man loosely clutching a hand-held tape player and a handgun. Each finds a tape the perfect fit for the player in their back pocket. They play the tapes. One is threatened, the other isn't. But they have a task: One must kill the other by 6:00, or his wife and daughter will die. They find hacksaws in a toilet, and try to cut the chains, but it doesn't work. They are the two newest victims of the Jigsaw Killer. Through a series of flashbacks, we learn of more victims, and of the nearly-successful capture of the Jigsaw Killer, who doesn't actually kill his victims. Instead, he finds ways to make them kill either themselves, or each other, and he thinks the entire 'game' out perfectly, with no other ways out. Or so it would seem...

Shimotsuma monogatari or Kamikaze Girls

What is it: Based on a series of comic books, it’s a comedy about 2 girl’s unique friendship

Plot: Momoko is an ordinary girl, living an ordinary life. Ordinary, that is, if you define ordinary as wearing elaborate lolita dresses from the Rococo period in 18th Century France. A complete fish out of water in her rural and sleepy Japanese town, where everyone buys their clothes (and everything else) at the same store and no one understands her, Momoko's life is one of sugared sweets and frilly treats. Desperate to make some money to pay for her expensive indulgence, Momoko tries selling bootleg Ver*ace and Uni*ersal Studios clothes left over from her Dad's yakuza (gangster) days. However, when punk girl and self-styled 'Yanki' Ichiko comes calling, her days as 'ordinary' are most certainly numbered... Road movie, buddy comedy, deeply insightful and surprisingly touching, the surreal world only further highlights the all too real friendship that brings these two unlikely girls together

Starring: no famous stars that we know of...

Just like heaven

What is it: Romantic comedy between a sprit and a human. With an interesting twist at the end.

Plot: Elizabeth Masterson is a dedicated, workaholic doctor who is way to busy for a life. One night, she gets into a horrible car accident and becomes a spirit stuck between heaven and earth. She doesn't know she's dead and thinks nothing has happened until she meets David Abbot, a lonely architect, who rents her old apartment. David thinks he's crazy by seeing Elizabeth's spirit and tries all ways to get rid of her, but she just won't go away. Although the two are complete opposites they somehow may just form a relationship

Starring: Oscar winner Reese witherspoon who played Elle woods in Legally blonde and June carter in Walk the line

Stay alive

What is it: Horror/thriller about a group of friends who died after playing the game. (movie NOT based on a game.)

Plot: After the brutal death of a friend, a group of friends find themselves in possession of a video-game called "Stay Alive," a blood-curdling true story of a 17th century noblewoman known as the Blood Countess. After playing the game when they know they shouldn't, however, the friends realize that once they die in the game--they die for real. As their numbers begin dropping and as they begin dying in the ways they died in the game, the remaining friends realize they must defeat the Blood Countess or accept their fates.

Interesting fact: Countess Elizabeth Bathory (the blood countess or the ‘ghost’ in the movie) did actually exist. However, for the perspective of the film, her story takes place in New Orleans, whereas historically she was located in Hungary.

Starring:
Frankie Muniz, the guy who plays Malcolm in “Malcolm in the middle”
Sophia bush, who acted as beth in John tucker must die

Released dates: long time ago in 2006, rated PG

Warning: Interesting concept, but poor delivery. Watch it at your own risk…
